People will perish because they do not love the truth. Truth is sometimes hard to receive because it often means we have to change. It is convicting, especially if the one delivering it to us is not gracious. But that does not excuse us from receiving it! It should drive us to God, who alone can not only change us, but can build us back up after we have humbled ourselves to the truth.

Jesus said this is the essence of worship, receiving the Spirit and the truth. Singing and shouting are good but they alone are not worship. When we surrender to the dealing of the Holy Spirit and the application of truth to our lives, then we are worshipping!

James went so far as to declare that we are given new birth through the word of truth (Jms 1.18). God's truth alone is what can change us.
