on prophesy...
The Bible is about 1/3 prophesy, many of which have been fulfilled. They happened just as the prophets predicted. Since the prophets did not speak on their own, but were moved by the Holy Spirit, there is no reason to not expect the rest will come true as well.
"And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shinning in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." 2 Peter 1:19
Since the prophets spoke as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, we need the Holy Spirit's help in understanding them. We should always approach them with prayer, endeavoring to accept them as literal unless Scripture clearly indicates they are symbolic. For example, for many years, people tried to interpret Ezekiel's prophesy of 'dry bones' symbolically, because the nation of Israel no longer existed. Now we know that God meant exactly what He said and He brought back Israel to their land.
