Endtime Signposts

Israel is often likened to a fig tree. Jesus used them as a signpost. When the nation of Israel is once again in its God-given land, we should slow down and be alert. God's plan for the endtimes is drawing near.

Both Jesus and the Apostles gave us sign posts that would warn us when endtime events were drawing close. Jesus also said they would be like birth pangs; in other words, they would increase in frequency and intensity. This has caused confusion in every age as people saw these signs and thought His coming was surely near. But, over the years these signs have been increasing in intensity and frequency.

Jesus gave us one sign that would alert us to the closeness of His return. He said, "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door." The fig tree is Israel. In 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation. Isaiah prophesied that the Jews returning to the land would be like a flag waving for the nations to see that Messiah would soon be returning. In this context, the signposts given by Jesus and the Apostles take on new meaning.

This section will highlight these sign posts, but it is not exhaustive. I hope you enjoy it.
