Hawaii lawmakers vote to celebrate 'Islam Day'

HONOLULU - Hawaii's state Senate has overwhelmingly approved a bill to celebrate "Islam Day," despite the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn't think the state should honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote Wednesday. The bill was previously passed by Hawaii's House of Representatives. The bill recognizes what it calls "the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions" that Islam and the Islamic world have made.

But the Senate's two Republicans argued that radical Islamists cheered the 2001 attacks. They also noted that other religions didn't have a special day honored.

The lone Democrat voting in dissent opposed it on church-state separation grounds.

If these lawmakers are not voted out of office at the first opportunity, the citizens of Hawaii will soon be losing other freedoms. Or do you think any Islamic states which are supposed to have given us so much "rich religious, scientific, and cultural contributions" have any where near the freedoms we have in America, largely do to our Judeo-Christian foundations? Where are the Islamic nations that allow women freedom of expression? Where the Islamic nations that are as tolerant of other religions as we are of Islam? Where are the Islamic nations that excel in scientific inventions, other than bombs? If these Islamic states are such paragons of freedom and advancements, why are their citizens trying so hard to come to America?

It's time to get off the 'political correct' bandwagon and call a 'spade a spade'! The political correctness doctrine is only an invention of liberals used to compensate for their inadequate ability to argue a point logically. Our standard should not be the doctrine of 'political correctness' but it should be one of the truth! If we are afraid of the truth, then we have already lost the will to survive as free people.

Islam is not afraid to clearly state their goals - they intend to rule the world. At a recent march for 'peace' in England, they boldly declared their intents - (see picture).

Maybe Americans should wake up to the real message of Islamic peace - 'You do as we say, or else!' Many say these are just a few hotheaded youngsters and they don't represent Islam. But who raised these 'hotheaded youngsters'? Who taught them to believe these things they are saying? I'll tell you who - their parents and their religious leaders.

America is tolerant of many different ethnic groups and has often been called the 'great melting pot' of cultures. But under the liberal doctrine of political correctness, we are no longer demanding the 'melting pot' process. We should rather say, "If you want to come to America - come, but, learn our history and our language and our culture. Regardless of what President Obama says, we are yet a Christian nation and our culture is still shaped by Christian morals.

If we allow that to be eroded away, we will no longer be America.
